How LMI Calculator Australia sources, checks, dates and corrects every figure it publishes.

Effective 29 September 2026. Last updated 1 October 2026.

1. What we publish

We publish calculators and guides about lenders mortgage insurance (LMI) and the ways to reduce or avoid it in Australia. Every page is general information for home buyers and investors. None of it is credit, financial or tax advice.

2. Where our figures come from

We rely on three kinds of source:

  • LMI figures that lenders publish themselves, on their own websites and fact sheets;
  • government and regulator sources, such as the ATO, Moneysmart, firsthomebuyers.gov.au and state revenue offices;
  • rules published by lenders and LMI insurers, such as refund terms and maximum LVRs.

Comparison sites, broker blogs, news articles and forums can point us to a primary source, but we never use them as the source of a figure. We do not run lenders' or insurers' calculators to collect figures, and we do not use insurers' rate tables.

3. How we build the LMI estimate

The calculator uses only exact LMI amounts published by lenders, dated 2021 or later, where the loan and the LVR are stated or can be worked out. We turn each into a rate (the LMI divided by the loan) and show the lowest, typical and highest rate lenders publish near your LVR. The full method, and every figure it uses, is in how LMI is calculated.

4. How we check facts

  • Every figure is read from its source on the date shown on the page, and the page lists that source.
  • Rates, caps and thresholds carry an "as at" or "checked" date.
  • Where sources disagree, we say so, or leave the figure out.
  • Where no source covers a question, we say that instead of guessing.

5. Dates and updates

Each page shows the date it was published and the date its content last changed. When a scheme, rate or lender rule changes, we update the page and its date. We do not change the date unless the content changed.

6. Corrections

If you find a mistake, tell us through the contact page with the page address and, if you can, the source showing the correct figure. We check it against the source, fix the page if we got it wrong, and update the page's date.

7. Independence

No lender, broker, insurer or government agency pays us or reviews our pages before they are published. The site carries no advertising and earns no commissions. Naming a lender or insurer is not an endorsement.

8. Tools we use

We use software, including AI writing tools, to draft pages and to check them for errors. Every figure is still checked against its source before it is published.

9. Contact

By using LMI Calculator Australia you acknowledge that our figures are estimates and general information, checked against the sources listed on each page.
